What’s better to Juice or to Blend/Smoothie Juices?

What’s better to Juice or to Blend/Smoothie Juices?

A quick answer it depends.  Both definately have benefits and according to Chinese medicine Spring is the primary time of year to detox!  Your body at that time will be craving it and the organ system of Liver/Gallbladder will be primed and function best if a detox is done.  Check out the link for a short comparison.

And below, recommended books re: detoxing via juicing and or smoothies.  And some related articles from my archives that give more info on detoxing in Springtime:

Yoga Journals Upcoming 2014 Conference in NYC

Hey guys I just saw that Yoga Journal conference in NYC is coming soon (April.) The link takes you directly there, so check it out they have ways to attend usually like 1 day or full conference, plus with some notice I think they have scolarships. I would love to go.

Here are some highlights:

  • David Swenson- awonderful Ashtanga teacher, very sweet and kind in his manner, I think he’s from Texas. I took a short course with him on teaching Astanga for those who were already certified teachers.  Check out his yoga video (it astonished me when I first saw him literally “float” into moves so gracefully.  I had it when we still did vhs!
  • Anna Forrest- honestly she kind of scares me. she is supposed to be pretty fierce, meaning had a tough life and came through it and so is not into BS, not typically “soft” yogini.  She created her own style unifying her various interests and trainings.  I would like to study with her.  Her book’s title says it all: Fierce Medicine: Breakthrough Practices to Heal the Body and Ignite the Spirit

I’m gonna do more on YJ Conference in the next few weeks.

Blessings, Namaste,

Present Moment Awareness-Eckhart Tolle, Leads to Inspiration

Present Moment Awareness-Eckhart Tolle, Leads to Inspiration

Blessings, hope you had a chance to do your yoga/meditative practice today. I did the Kundalini Yoga “Spinal Series.”  I keep a notebook and rate the practice in terms of effects and with 4 stars being tops I give this one four stars.  I always feel a gentle current of energy flows in the spine and around the heart chakra specifically after doing that kriya.  Also the mind is clearer it’s said to enhance the flow of spinal fluid.

Pulling a advice card whether Angel Cards or Eckhart Tolle’s Power of Now Cards is a regular practice of mine.  Share with you today’s result from the latter deck:

creates a gap not only in the stream of mind

but also in the past-future continuum.

Nothing truly new and creative

can come into this world

except through that gap,

that clear space

of infinite possibility.

I then did the Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad meditation (link goes to YouTube video of it.)  I found that inspires creative inspiration. But it’s effect depends on what is needed and what emotions one might be exprienceing at the  time.

So I find pulling card is always helpful to something in my day-as I went to wash dishes post practice I was particularly mindful and this idea came to me:  My inspiration is to offer private yoga to women doing a detox, whether juice or just a “clean diet” in order to heal or simply to feel better.  See more on my private yoga page or contact me.

Blessings, Kala

Facing Calamity with Courage A Quote from Yogi Bhajan

Yogi Bhajan said:

“Every calamity is the test of our reality. Never be afraid of it. Whenever you face calamity with your reality, you shall win because God shall be on your side.’

Guru Rattana a senior teacher and longtime student of his explains it this way:  In other words, if you put your attention on your inner reality where your mind has access to the universal mind, instead of focusing on your ‘illusions’ and fears about what has happened, you will get support from universal forces. Practice!

Inspiration: Goethe Poem on Motivation, Manifesting Your Dreams & Goals

If you prefer to hear me read this quote, go here to YouTube: Inspiration: Motivational Quote from Goethe.

According to the Goethe Society website actually the last part of this piece,  is a paraphrasing of the German philosopher, Goethe’s words by W. H. Murray in The Scottish Himalaya Expedition,1951 (the latter was an explorer.)   If you read Murray’s full version he actually says “I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets.” He then paraphrases the “whatever you can…” final section.  The entire thing is really written by Murray but because he quoted the more famous Goethe, the whole piece ended up getting miss-attributed.

Until one is committed,

there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,

always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation),

there is one elementary truth

the ignorance of which kills countless ideas

and splendid plans:

that the moment one definitely commits oneself,

then Providence moves too.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision,

raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents,

meetings and material assistance, which no man

could have dreamt would have come his way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!

-W. H. Murray
