Private Yoga Classes in Chelsea (NYC)

Why private yoga?

Are you stressed out?  Perhaps between the kids activities and/or keeping all the balls in the air at work?  If you’re 40/50 something, you’ve got the career track going well- yet feeling pulled in multiple directions.  I understand.  As my Jamaican aunt once said “rock a river bottom, don’t know sun hot!”  It took me awhile to figure out what she meant 😉Virgin River along Emerald Pools Trail 4-29-14n

  • Perhaps you have health challenges that need your attention.
  • Are your parents getting older and requiring more care?  Perhaps one has fallen down or their memory is failing.

It’s a lot to deal with- both of my parents had debilitating issues that made the situation much worse.  Yoga can be the one small spot in the week where you take time for yourself.  It certainly is the primary reason I made it through a harrowing time in my career in academia. My daily practices of yoga and meditation kept me sane.  Yoga can do the same for you.  You can stop knowing the “the sun hot.”

Why get one on one yoga instruction?

As a private yoga teacher– I strive to adjust the practice each time to my clients needs.  Something that simply can’t happen in a class setting, your mat touching the next person, and their sweat too 😉  Some yoga sessions we might do a more flowing vinyasa practice and end with a nice shavasana.  Other days we might start if you’re tired- with legs up the wall and a scalp massage (did I mention my training in massage therapy?)  There are so many yoga practices that may not even get covered in a class.  Types of meditation and ways of deepening practice-all of this can be developed over time with private yoga in the comfort of your home.

And if my blend of yoga isn’t right for you, or I’m too busy- no problem;  through my new business Namaste Concierge- I am developing a vetted, certified roster of teachers who do private yoga sessions too.  Contact me.

Yoga in Chelsea

Flickr image of Chelsea Brownstone, NYCI’m  based in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan and the changes are breathtaking.   The rate of new buildings going up is faster than any I’ve seen as a lifelong New Yorker.  Chelsea is hot!  Apparently magazines and shows are highlighting it (and the whole world is trying to move here.)  When a friend moved in decades ago, it was a rather rundown and “under-appreciated” spot.  I can see why it’s so popular the area around the Seminary, the lovely tree shaded brownstones are truly breathtaking.   If you are in Chelsea and need a yoga class on your schedule-tailored to your needs, do get in touch.  I have practiced yoga of various types for 19 years.  And have extensive training in mindfulness meditation and ways to integrate mindfulness into a busy day.

As I write this it’s summer  which is a slower time and so the best time to get into my schedule.  Main Private Yoga page, or more info on my background in yoga.

Namaste,

Kala
