Vegan Chai Smoothie

DSCN3062Hi there, this is great if you are vegan or are out of a dairy sub- like almond milk or rice milk.  YOu may have tahini (sesame seed butter) in the pantry or fridge (to keep it freshest.) This gives a nice, slightly nutty flavor and healthy fats.  Also recipe makes a great base for a winter smoothie, as it’s mildly flavored and creamy already.

  • 1 TB. Tahini
  • Teabag of chai
  • 1 Date
  • to taste: Natural sweetener, like organic raw sugar

First boil a cup of water, with date in it (to soften it) then off the heat add chai tea of your choice.  I like[amazon_link id=”B000E19BZA” target=”_blank” ] Tazo chai[/amazon_link] or [amazon_image id=”B0009F3SAA” link=”true” target=”_blank” size=”medium” ]Yogi Tea Chai Black[/amazon_image].

If find the tea brews better with plain water rather than the thicker latte we are creating.  So once tea is brewed, with hand blender or reg one- add the tahini to the date, tea mixture and blend till smooth- even frothy!  Taste and add more sweetener if you like!
