Is Western Society Truly the Most Advanced?

Depends how you define advanced!   Seems that the utilization of resources in the most efficient, balanced way that serves the most people would be a quick part of a definition of an “advanced” society.

Just watched this TED Talks by Wade Davis, he is an anthropologist, I think Harvard trained.  It is a fascinating talk on cultural diversity around the world and the need to preserve it. The video mentions groups in Africa, South America, Tibet all still trying to live their traditional ways.  Of course you probably agree, but his images and his rationale for the incredible importance of not destroying other cultures is really moving.  He makes even the very conscious amongst us aware of our own sense of superiority and belief that we are the most advanced culture.  Watch it.
