Developing Loving-Kindness Workshop

I attended a wonderful workshop today with Tulku Thondup Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist teacher and writer, it was held at the Shelburne Falls Yoga studio in Massacusetts. He is author of Boundless Healing, which a friend of mine introduced me to, though I have not read it in full. Well it was better to go in person. I have found the Tibetan tradition of Buddhism to seem so ornate and complex, the rites and visualizations. That kept me from exploring it further. With his guidance today in the nearly 4 hour workshop, I understood some of the reasoning behind the practices. He led the group of about 30, skillfully with guided meditation on the Buddha of Compassion: Avalokishvara. But prior to that he gave a detailed exposition of the stages of the practice and the benefits.
If you do get a chance to study with him or read one of this books, I would recommend it, if you feel so drawn. His website is http://www.tulkuthondup.com/index.htm. Rinpoche spoke very good English, and had a kind, soft demeanor which I found engaging. Tomorrow is part two-so I will follow up about that. OM shanti.
